About life coaching

Is coaching like counselling?
No. Counselling concentrates on healing the past, while coaching works on two levels: practical action planning to achieve goals, and helping clients understand themselves so life gets easier. WHO you are determines how well what you DO works and most of us have behaviour that holds us back from living our best life. I have many tools to help my clients understand what is behind their actions.

Can't I just talk to my best friend?
You can, but friends have a vested interest in remaining your friend so they may not always be fully honest or push you. A coach is unconditionally constructive which means only saying things that further your life. Part of my job is to make requests and suggestions, but I will also understand if you refuse them.

How can I get the most out of coaching?
By being willing to experiment and try out new things. I will help you re-look at old assumptions and expectations, stop tolerating and suffering stuff in your life, and encourage you to achieve goals that are bigger than you've ever thought possible. To get the most out of our time together, please fill in a call preperation sheet before each session and come to the call with enthusiasm. It's your time so make it work for you!

Why does coaching work?
A coach is trained to listen fully to what you say, what you are trying to say, and what you are not saying. I believe you have the answers and I will ask the right questions to bring them out. I also want the very best for you and am there to support you 100%.

How do I get started with coaching?
Book a free first session to ensure we'll work well together. I can send you a mail to mull over beforehand so we have plenty to talk about during our time together.

What happens next?
Book a free 20 minute introductory session here to experience what one-to-one coaching is like first hand. At the end of the introductory session, if you think you will benefit from coaching I will set up your first call. You need to send me your monthly fee which is payable in advance and I will then send you out my welcome pack.

What do I talk about with my coach during the session?
This is your time so it depends on what you want to work on. Your welcome pack contains a call preparation sheet which you need to fill out before each call. This asks about your opportunities, challenges (a better word for problems), what you've accomplished since the last session and how you want to use your coach on the call. All of which shows me exactly what we need to concentrate on during our time together.

Isn't it strange telling so much to a stranger?
A coach is trained to understand a person very quickly so you will probably be surprised how well I know you after only a short time. And a coach will never gossip. I will never discuss or even hint at what we have talked about during our call. And my client list is confidential too so the only way people will know if you are working with me is if you tell them.

Isn't it a lot of money to spend?
Coaching is an investment, and there's no better investment than in yourself. Take a minute to think about what you would like to achieve in the next three months. How much would this be worth to you? A coach will help you reach all your goals, plus design a life that brings you the most happiness and satisfaction. You decide if this is worth the price of a big night out once a week.
